Secretarial ComplianceThe Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on August 13, 2026, issued a clarification regarding implementation of “@valid” UPI IDs for investor-facing bank accounts maintained by Investment Advisers, pursuant to SEBI’s communication dated August 7, 2026. All Investment Advisers are required to link their investor-facing bank accounts through which investor funds are received with a “@valid” UPI ID, enabling verification of such accounts through SEBI Check.

Investment Advisers are required to apply for the “@valid” UPI handle through the BSE portal and, after generation of the UTN, approach their respective banks to complete the necessary documentation/process. The requirement applies to all existing investor-facing bank accounts, while any new investor-facing bank account opened after the circular must also be mandatorily linked with a “@valid” UPI ID.

The compliance deadline is October 6, 2026, being T+60 days from August 7, 2026. Investment Advisers are therefore required to complete the process within the prescribed timeline to ensure that their investor-facing accounts remain verifiable through SEBI Check.
